Mindful Breathing Matters
Young Minds in the Community members started off February by having the opportunity to speak to some seniors at Crawford High School. Members shared insights about our amazing community and offered words of inspiration on overcoming stigmas and defining one's purpose. Young individuals gained a sense of how to step into a mindset of fulfilling their potential and challenging themselves to grow. A huge shoutout to Vice Principal Joel Flores for the opportunity to speak at Crawford and for sharing an open invitation to return. Young Minds also had the chance to speak to former foster youth through the ACE Scholars program at CSU San Marcos. At this event, members engaged in community conversation as students shared a passion for understanding their reasons for pursuing higher education. Thanks to ACE Scholars for their interest in welcoming Young Minds back in the spring. To wrap up the month, Young Minds hosted their monthly meeting in North Park, where our community warmly welcomed Nadine Correa, Business Owner of MoveBetter. Nadine spoke on the importance of recognizing how breathing influences movement and mental well-being. She shared her educational background and led members through a couple of breathing exercises. As the monthly meeting came to a close, our members agreed to focus on their breath in everyday life. It was definitely a short month full of different interactive opportunities, and eventful networking events.
