Our Purpose

YMIC was invited to have the first meeting of March at Batta Fulkerson Office. With great privilege, we were able to use the space and share that many of our common goals include having our own business like this law firm. Although everyone was excited to see this amazing office space for the first time we promptly began our meeting.

During our first meeting of March we focused on sharing life updates and connecting with one another. We had several members share upcoming plans and common challenges of wanting to do more in their life. It brought a great topic of focusing on things that fulfill one another. Including, giving back and being able to connect with others who may have experienced something similar when starting their career. Although this was a topic many do not like speaking on, we are glad to have created a sense of community where others feel the same.

As for our second meeting, we met at a new location and gave the members some time to mingle prior to the meeting. This gives us the opportunity to mingle in different environments and be able to connect with one another on a personal level. We started our second meeting with our mission statement as a pitch. In just three months of hosting these YMIC meetings, we are able to see how confident our members are becoming in sharing with one another.  We usually begin our meetings with engaging topics including rose, thorn, and bud. It allows us to share about our life updates and surround ourselves with individuals who may be experiencing similar life situations.

As we continue to give feedback with one another's pitch, we then focused on talking about our industry competitors. This is a topic that many found challenging due to this being a new focus in their life. As members shared, their industries were different but challenges were similar in finding competitors in social media, individuals with license and certifications, and those with more experience. This conversation allowed us to focus on how we are unique and how we can look at these competitors as an opportunity.

Since getting involved in our community is a common goal of our organization, we have made it a goal to start setting up volunteer opportunities over the next two months. With this goal, we hope to continue to target our personal branding while giving back to our community. Although our organization is small and has only been active for only 3 months, we began to develop interest forms and applications to begin a committee of board members that will be constantly contributing to the growth of YMIC.
