Community Impact

In the month of June, we collaborated with a local church known as House of Praise where we partnered to serve over 110+ Unhoused Individuals and provided over 150+ hygiene kits ranging from basic necessity of deodorant, socks, tooth brush and much more. As this was all provided through members of Young Minds in the Community it provided insight for the work that is still needed in Downtown San Diego. As this was a great start to the month, throughout our meeting members discussed the value of having a community of support to uplift and how to be held accountable through our community. Prior to the month ending we had the honor of inviting Alonzo Harvey to our community to share the passion and relentless work he does. Alonzo is a community college transfer student and now recent graduate from University of California, Berkeley. He strives to remove the barriers that underserved and misrepresented individuals have to face on a daily bases. Alonzo serves as a community resource and envisions presenting the blue print by learning ways to serve and be of service.

We continue to recognize our members and allow them to share their knowledge throughout our monthly meetings. We are happy to share that we have introduced our new series of monthly guest speakers. Were we are able to learn from community advocated and professionals in topics that are not discuss in our everyday routine.
